1. ANALGESIC (PAIN KILLERS)

  • Non-opioid painkillers
  • This includes paracetamol
  • Some of these are available over the counter from pharmacies
  • Nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDS)
  • Aspirin, naproxen (Aleve), and ibuprofen (Advil, Motrin) are examples of OTC NSAIDs
  • Aceclofenac is a non-steroidal anti- inflammatory drugs (NSAID)
  • It works by blocking the release of certain chemical messengers that cause pain and inflammation (redness and swelling)
  • Diclofenac is used to relieve pain, swelling (inflammation), and joint stiffness caused by arthritis.

2. ANTIBIOTICS FOR REDUCE INFECTION

  • Antibiotics of the penicillin class, such as penicillin and amoxicillin, are most commonly used to help treat tooth infections.
  • Their antimicrobial activity reduce the amount the bacteria causing pain

    1. Ceftriaxone

  • An antibiotic called metronidazole may be given for some types of bacterial infections.

3. DENTAL ANALGESIC

  • Clove oil contains the active ingredient eugenol, which is a natural anesthetic
  • It helps numb and reduce pain to ease a toothache
  • Eugenol also has natural anti-inflammatory properties
  • It may reduce swelling and irritation in the affected area

4. SALT WATER RINSE FOR DENTAL INFECTION

  • If we have a toothache, until we can get to the dentist, one of the best things we can do is swish and gargle warm, salty water around in our mouth.
  • A good mix is 1/2 teaspoon table salt to 8 ounces of water.
  • Spit it out, don't swallow it.

5. COLD COMPRESS

  • A cold compress might help reduce swelling and ease the inflammation.
  • Crush some ice and fill into ice bag or ice into a washcloth to be used as a cold compress.
